A Governor's Arrival

The sea was calm when I first saw the islands.

From the deck, they looked scattered and quiet — small shapes rising from the horizon, each one waiting for someone bold enough to claim it. No empire rules these waters. No king commands the fleets. Here, every island belongs to the governor strong enough to hold it.

My charter was simple: take the settlement, build it, and defend it. From that moment forward, its fate was mine to decide.

The harbor was little more than a wooden dock and a handful of watch towers. But every governor begins the same way — one island, a few loyal people, and the open sea stretching in every direction.

Since then I have learned what this archipelago truly is.

A frontier.

Some governors grow rich through trade. Others command fleets and seize new islands by force. Alliances rise and collapse with the tide, and the strongest domains are built slowly, island by island.

The sea connects us all.

And one day, if I rule wisely enough, every sail on that horizon may fly under my banner.
